beautyA Poem by Elena. . ."please god, serve to protect and preserve her perfection; let it garner the richest of passionate male attention and spare her any acts of tedious reflection" "she doesn't need to be a smart girl; for at her delicate toes, she has the whole world, with her eyes gleaming and her sweet hair curled" "have you seen her? she's grown into quite the sight, why, she's become the town's most memorable delight; her turn of cheek, and tuck of waist developing seemingly overnight!" "alas! she must marry, she must marry soon, she has first ravage of wrinkles - a most certain doom; buy her creams and silks, and douse her in perfume - she needs every help now to find a wealthy groom." "oh, isn't she the most beautiful bride; the most darling thing i have ever eyed; her mom's pretty little angel, her dad's blushing pride!" "what do you mean he's left her? whatever is she to do? i mean i saw it coming, now that her beauty has left her too; but she really has nothing; not even a clue." "oh, they say it's only skin deep, but it's really not true; it stole from her, her very soul, and now she is through." © 2011 Elena |
