Chapter Five- I can explain

Chapter Five- I can explain

A Chapter by Ellie

Alice wasn’t listening; she was staring at the large wings protruding from my back. I ran a hand through my hair and looked up at her.

“Alice… Please… I can explain” I said, she simply stared at me, blinking and looked from the wings on my back to my face.

“W-What are you?” she asked her voice quiet and scared. I stood and slowly walked over to her, but she backed away from me, fear still all over her face.

“I’m sorry” I whispered as I looked up at her.

“What are you?” she asked a little louder as she ran a shaky hand through her hair.

“Well… um… I-I’m a dragon…” I said quietly, she looked up at me and blinked again as she tilted her head to the side.

“Wait… a what?” she asked as she raised an eyebrow and tilted her head to the side.

“I’m a dragon” I said again, she blinked again as she looked up at me, her emerald eyes looked scared and confused and I moved closer again, my wings flapping a little and she backed away.

“I-um… How could you keep this from me?” she asked, her voice shaking a little.

“I was scared to tell you the truth” I replied as I scratched the back of my neck sheepishly.

“But… you’ve had three years to tell me”

“I know… I’m so sorry”

“So… are your parent’s dragons?”

“Yes”

“And that island?”

“Was the island dragons were forced to go to”

“So why did you leave?”

“Because I’m tired of being coped up with all the other dragons… do you know how big dragons are and how small that island is?”

“No… but I can imagine” she replied. “Can I see your dragon form?” she asked.

“Yeah… but we’ll need to find somewhere else…  I’ll be too big for the house if I change here” I told her and she nodded.

“Just tell me when and where and I’ll be there” she smiled before she walked close to me, I smiled when she stopped backing away and a shiver of pleasure ran up my spine as she gently stroked my wings absentmindedly.

“You know… in a weird… scaly way, they’re really pretty” she said gently and I chuckled as I looked up at her.

“I don’t know if that’s a compliment or an insult” I replied and she smiled.

“Compliment” she said and I chuckled as I looked over at her and kissed her cheek, she smiled and as I leaned in to kiss her cheek, she turned her head to the side so my lips met hers, making me chuckle again and smile as she stepped a little closer to me as I snaked my arms around her waist and pulled her closer.

“I’m so glad you didn’t completely freak out and run away screaming” I said gently and she laughed.

“And I’m really glad I don’t have to keep that secret from you anymore” I continued and she nuzzled my neck gently, happily I let my wings move around her body so that they were like a protective barrier between her and the world, know that she knew… I knew we were in trouble…

At the end there is a 'know'. Should it be a 'now'?

She didn't run! Yay! I wonder where they will go?

Great story!
