Chapter Four- Modern Day

Chapter Four- Modern Day

A Chapter by Ellie

I smiled as I woke slowly; Alice curled up in my arms as she slept. We had been together for two years, and after that day I met her after she walked out on her dad, we had been good friends. She was so perfect to me, though I still hadn’t told her about my true form… I knew I should… but I just couldn’t, I couldn’t tell her and then watch her run away like I was some monster… well, I guess I am. She always looked so angelic when she slept, her dyed red hair fell in front of her pale face, her chest rising and falling slowly in a rhythmic pace. She meant the world to me, and I was so happy I had managed to save her from her father, I got a house a little while after moving here and as soon as I had the house, I asked her to be my girlfriend and when she said yes, I got her to move in with me. Before I could do that, I hated watching her get hurt, her coming to meet me every day with new scars and marks from her dad. I had sworn to myself I would get revenge one day.

I felt her stir in my arms and looked down, her emerald eyes fluttered open and I smiled as I kissed the top of her head, she rubbed her eyes tiredly and slowly sat up.

“Good morning sleeping beauty” I said gently as I looked down at her.

“Morning… how long have you been awake?” she asked gently.

“Only a few minutes” I told her gently and she nodded, she gently nuzzled into me more as she gently traced patterns across my chest, making me shiver in pleasure. One thing she had noticed however… was a large tattoo on my back; the tattoo looked like big dragon wings. The only give away of what I was, though to anyone who didn’t know, I could pass it as a tattoo, since that’s all it looked like.

“Daken?” she asked gently and I looked over at her and nodded.

“If I ever meet your family… do you think they’d like me?” she asked and I nodded.

“I think they’d love you” I replied gently, well; I couldn’t really tell her the truth. I had no idea what they would do if they found out I had fallen for a human, probably freak out and disown me? I sighed a little and ran a hand through my hair, I hadn’t told Alice anything about my family or my life before she met me. I didn’t want to have to lie to her about it all.

“I’m going to get breakfast, would you like anything?” she asked softly as she stood and kissed my cheek before she moved to the door.

“Yes please… just whatever you’re having” I said with a smile and she nodded before walking down stairs and into the kitchen to get food. Whenever no one was around for a little while, I always let me wings out, with a small groan and a ripping sound, my wings unfolded themselves from the tattoo type image on my back and flapped a little, I sighed happily as I just sat on the bed, my wings out.

Suddenly, the bedroom door opened and I heard a scream, looking at the door, Alice was stood, her mouth open and her eyes wide with shock. The plates that had been in her hands now lay, smashed on the floor.

“Alice…”

Oh wow.

It's a cliffhanger! Right at the end.

I think that's a good thing. It makes the reader want to read more.

Great Job!
