The Heart of the BeastA Poem by Lady EllenThis is a poem about a negative soul.He comes in swift from the darkness, straight out of the windless night, wings fully spread to hide a full moon,s light. Slowly, he glides in to find a perch on the tallest tree. Quietly, he looks down upon a grief stricken world, So much sadness for his eyes to see. He watches and listens, with such extreme intent . Deep in the heart of his soul, he knows he is quite confident . His only weapons are his words . How deeply they cut through flesh, and soul. Cold as a deep winter's grave, he says his piece. Then a quick and heartless retreat. But deep in my heart I know this ravenous beast. For his true love's heart is what he intends to feast. I watch him spread his wings and glide away into the stirless night, with me left knowing his endless plight. © 2008 Lady EllenReviews
