Small spec of beauty

Small spec of beauty

A Poem by Ellen Mary

This life is a short one
a lesson we take notice of, in the later years

My wishes have been undone
over and again, a disappointment reappears

A mist on the earth, a sun in pursuit
eerie the grey, and softer the glow

a vision in blur, things only in mute
expressions, details, a failure to show

I disappear in the distance
and am surrounded by uncertainty

A mind sickened with missense
lacking truth hope or purity

With wounds on the skin
and still hearts on the floor

the body burns guilty with sin
and yet craves even more

Theres a soft sigh in the mouth
while the ghosts pass us by

We look feverish with doubt
with a feverish eye

One cannot hope to fathom
eternal anguish or dispair

In the thought that a loved one
who in the end fails to care

But in light of the logic
and in the hope of right reason

We look past the hardship
and ignore ties of treason

We dont touch the glowing
which burns a hot red

and we dont kiss the poisoned
or scratch at cuts bled

we know not to breath
in a watery grave

and we know not to seethe
at mistakes wrongly made

with peace as the season
we take love as we give it

this life is a short one
we know it
so we live it
