This is my first attempt at an abecedarian poem, which is a special form of an acrostic poem in which
the initial letters of the words beginning each line or stanza spell out the alphabet in order.
ABC'S OF LOVE
As I lie here musing, Beneath a tranquil sky, Cherishing the moment, Dreaming of days gone by;
Every precious memory Flows gently thru my mind; Gossamer wings eclipsing Heartache and words unkind.
If perhaps we had known, Just when your ship sailed, Kindred souls betrothing, Love may have prevailed.
Moonbeams softly glowing, Ne'er more will calm my fears. Our future hopes...vanquished. Promises, drowned with tears.
Questions left unspoken.... Resounding through my soul, Still demanding answers..... Taunting, I'll ne'er be whole.
Unforgotten sweetheart, Venture once more to me, Where our love ignited. X ever marks our tree.
You'd still be with me. But, Zion set your spirit free.
Look what you have written! The AbC's of love. It took you to spell it out for those of us who have allowed a little ice to form around the edges of our heart. To have love and lose it, through death is a tragedy and through other aspects in life it is painful. Either way, it always leaves us with unanswered questions. Sometimes though it can leave us with very sweet memories to revisit. I am glad you retain those.
great,i did not know of any such form, first thanks for informing, the idea of loving and losing, tremondous write,i couldnot love it more,it was sonorous and calming, beautiful
congratulations!! you turned the alphabet into a poem
i have never been able to do that
to write poems like this....
where i have to write with a certain first letter....
Great work! Think I just came across a new found favourite. Definitely onbe of the best poems of come across on this site so far. This is so well written. 10/10!
You did a great job on the abecedarian. I must give this a try someday. I did try a palindrome though, the mirror image type it was fun. Great poetry treatment on the ABC's of love. Smiles M.
That is a very sad poem, but very real. I read your profile for some reason, though I seldom read them. I found myself wondering if your boyfriend was also involved in the accident, or if you are only writing about a relationship that ended. The poem spoke to me about losing my parents. Very well written.
WOW!! that was some kind of wonderful, the rhyming was so beautifully written I read it twice just to savor it's splendor, and to think it was done alphabetically, simply a creative genius.
excellent write.
