MY CHILD

MY CHILD

A Poem by Ellen Hammond
"

When my youngest daughter was 17, she had a concrete streetlight fall on her. It was a hard ordeal to watch her go through so much pain and surgery. But thank God, she is alive and well today. Sitting by her bedside, this poem came to me.

"

MY CHILD

As I watch my child suffering
Through this serious ordeal
I'd rather bear the pain myself
It seems unfair and so unreal

She is fair and understanding
Why is she facing such a test?
I find it inconceivable
To imagine "Its for the best"

Romans 8:28 tells me
"All things work together for good"
In this hope I'd gain some comfort
If I truly believed it would

I do trust you, Lord, with my life
Help me to leave her in your care
Knowing that whatever happens
Your love will always be right there

I've gained a new appreciation
Of God the Father's love for me
For He watched and did not intervene
As Jesus died upon that tree

i agree with the message ELLEN. Unless we as mothers be strong, our kids won't get the vibe. I can understand what you would have gone through in those moments of pain....as if everything is lost and then suddenly, you realise and feel the light withing yourself...the light of love, hope, guidance which must have took away all the pain of your suffering daughter.
I know God cannot be everywhere and so HE created MOTHERS and YOU are surely one of those wonderful mothers

To endure such pain and suffering couldn't have been an easy trial for either of you to go through. Heavenly Father is truly wonderful. Fantastic write and glad your daughter is ok.

Is there anything more closely akin to Christ's love for us, than the love of a woman for
her child, as expressed so beautifully in this poem? I think not. Thanks for the reminder, Ellen.
