LIFE'S SEASONS

LIFE'S SEASONS

Are the effects of the seasons upon a tree

Relative to life's changes for you and me?

Spring issues forth the first signs of life

Brand new buds, not weary from strife

Unfolding and growing from both rain and sun

'Til next  thing we know, Summer's begun

Flourishing and maturing in this welcoming warm scene

It stands handsomely arrayed with leaves full and green

But as Autumn draws near and the weather is changed

The tree's priorities are rearranged

Roots and substance are the focus of the day

The more frivolous is rejected in a splendid display

The cold Winter wind finds the tree standing there

Stripped of its beauty, looking solemn and bare

The blustering storm brings ice through the night

By dawn, that tree is a marvelous sight

Glistening and shining, it's a scene that I love

As it simply reflects beauty which comes from above

Facing the storms and standing strong through the strife

It patiently awaits the Spring of new life

In one of my folders on Yahoo, I have a collection of winter scenes. Your final snap
reminded me of that. If I can find it, I'll link it to you.
Your poem is very sweet. Was the re-use of the "strife-life" couplet (2nd and Final)
intentional, to indicate a cyclicity to the process?
Couplets are a great medium to express basic truths such as this; no flim-flam, no whiz-bang...Just Truth.

Brilliant portrayal of season's changing.. so much wisdom can truly come from the simplicity of that of nature.. the tree would be the most profound and much needed of all plants that surface the earth.. they can truly be compared to life itself and being human. Each picture complimented each of the verses.. very beautifully done! So much strength flows as well as philosophy and metaphorical meanings.. the very foundation our earth needs as well as every living animal that breathes! Great job.. loved it!

this reminds me of a poem i wrote one time... called, "one can see the mountains", the first free verse i wrote
its not up here... but its a pretty similar idea
but instead of describing one tree, it describes a tree line that has a mountain range behind it
so i like this poem!!

Bravo !!! So descriptively and aptly put. Nature and life, people and trees are two of the same tis true !!!

I love it. I am impressed, the 4 seasons so well described, the setting with the pictures add so much to it. Just beautiful, thank you for sharing with me. I have not figured how to add pictures to poem yet, I tried a couple of times without success. (I found my cat laying on my keyboard a few minutes ago, she made a mess of it, sorry. God Bless you, take care of yourself my friend....Annie.
