LIFE'S SEASONSA Poem by Ellen HammondWe can learn much from nature as we take the time to really see it and reflect upon it.
LIFE'S SEASONS
Are the effects of the seasons upon a tree Relative to life's changes for you and me?
Spring issues forth the first signs of life Brand new buds, not weary from strife
Unfolding and growing from both rain and sun 'Til next thing we know, Summer's begun
It stands handsomely arrayed with leaves full and green
But as Autumn draws near and the weather is changed
The tree's priorities are rearranged
Roots and substance are the focus of the day
The more frivolous is rejected in a splendid display The cold Winter wind finds the tree standing there Stripped of its beauty, looking solemn and bare
The blustering storm brings ice through the night
By dawn, that tree is a marvelous sight
Glistening and shining, it's a scene that I love
As it simply reflects beauty which comes from above
Facing the storms and standing strong through the strife
It patiently awaits the Spring of new life
