Oh the ways that love is expressed. I think your message was that love is manifested in many ways, but the truest kind is selfless love, like the Love of God which was shown at calvary. People just don't get it sometimes.
....Just had to read again...and love it even more....Some are scared of the word LOVE...but only because it's a stranger to them...I often wonder if such folk ever find it and in time comprehend it, so as to feel it and act upon it, enriching their lives...before they leave this earth...such a pity if this is not so...(Maybe they have to work at it...I dunno...that's double dutch to me)... I thank God for having so much Love in my heart...in all different forms....for the poor woman trying to put her necklace on unaided as she is widowed, for all children...sweet and innocent...for the wee bird who flew in to my window..oops I think these are sympathy notes..but that comes from Love.
Thanks for bringing it all to my attention once more...
Hope you are feeling better soooooooooooooooooon.

So insightful. I don't know if I necessarily agree with all the points in your poem, but here is the essence, the powerful message, the answer to all of love":
"Love is not just a word or a feeling...It's a decision"
My God! What a summary. What an insight. The commitment is all. One soul to another. Nothing else matters. Two souls bound. Fates merged. What is mine is yours. What's yours is mine. My love is your love. My fate is your fate. Your fate is my fate. Your death is my death. We are one. End. Full stop. Bottom line.
' Love is shown with a smile, a word, hug, or deed ~~ It's seeing and fulfilling an unspoken need ~~ It's sharing in laughter, joy, pain, and sorrow ~~ Never making one wonder if you'll still care tomorrow ' .. .. and how many times have you shared that with me, dear friend.
You have the incredible knack of knowing when the right time is for anything and everything, maybe it is the believer in you, maybe it's just because you're a very real human being. Whichever or because of both, thank you for beckoning me to this 'old-ish' post today of all todays. xx
A truly wondrous write Ellen, you have framed the true nature of love in such incredible words. Though the entire piece was exquisite, I particularly loved,
"It's sharing in laughter, joy, pain, and sorrow
Never making one wonder if you'll still care tomorrow"
I don't know why, but I did. Fantastic!!
What a beautiful expression of love... each line like the brush strokes of a wondrous painting... Love has such a depth and richness, and you lift us with your words!
