I asked the Lord to show me a way to explain the concept of the Trinity so children could grasp it. Then, as I sat on the rocks overlooking the sea, this poem began to flow through my mind. I penned it but it was truly a gift to share with all who care
THE SEA OF LIFE
Pondering life's mysteries
As I gaze upon the sea
Considering its properties
Brings to mind the Trinity
For I think of God the Father
Looking at this vast expanse
With constant, unchanging power
Whatever the circumstance
Water flowing from the sea
Cleanses all that dare come near it
And watching as it flows back home
Reminds me of God the Spirit
For water always follows
Its predetermined course
No matter where its poured out
It returns to its source
Then filling a new bottle
with sea water just for fun
In the light of all my musing
I think of God the Son
For the water within this vessel
Has the same properties as its source
Though for a while it's limited
In its glory and strength, of course
Even so, our Lord Jesus
Is part of the Father above
Though confined in a human vessel
He is filled with the Spirit of love
Ellen, I received a read request from Mark. I'm glad I followed the recommendation. Like Mark, I love the affirmation of the trinity. I have heard the concept accused, abused, and lambasted by the "One" movement. All of science and physics support the idea that the eternal Godhead is triune. I think of water....In it's basic makeup it's liquid. When boiled it becomes vapor. When frozen it becomes solid. All three forms are still 100% H20 yet different in their application and purpose. SO it is with the Godhead. God the Father is all God yet without beginning or end, eternal. God the Son is all God and all man, the incarnation of God into flesh. God the spirit is all God, but able to disperse and touch millions. The trinity....perfection in 3 forms. Thanks...hope to read more of you soon.
Ellen, this is simply gorgeous. How you have in so few words so beautifully summed up the complex interrelationships within Godhead amazes me. God as ocean, the Spirit as the inexorable current emanating from the ocean, nourishing everything it touches at every step along the way, but invariably returning to it...UNDIMINISHED!, Christ as minute and temporarily limited vessel of Godness, though seperated from His fullness: I'm wordless, and sustah, that ain't easy to do!
Bonjour Ellen, I enjoy your poems so much i don't want them to end. another great write. Oh yes the
Trinity, I picture the Trinity as the Love connection for all Three, The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Thank you for sharing and teaching you faith with us. God Bless you
