THE ROSE OF LOVE

THE ROSE OF LOVE

A Poem by Ellen Hammond
"

This is a true account of Momma's death, November 6,199l.

"

 THE  ROSE  OF  LOVE

"I am the Rose of Sharon,"
Keeps entering my head,
While tears freely flow,
Beside Momma's death bed.

Lord, she's suffered so long,
Help me to let go,
To give her assurance,
For she needs to know,

That I will be fine,
And be able to cope.
 I'll work through my grief,
With God's grace and hope.

Autumn has been cold.
We've had frost many days.
Yet outside her window,
Blooms a rose they call Blaze.

This is the first time,
I've noticed that flower,
A blessed reminder,
Of God's love and power.

 Now a soft sweet scent
Of roses, fills the air.
Letting us know,
That Jesus is here.

It's okay to leave Mom,
Just go toward the light.
Your labor is finished.
May your soul take flight,

Into the arms that are
Filled with such love.
He will carry you safely,
To the Father above.

I'll miss you, Momma.
Will forget you never.
For the rose of love,
Blooms forever.

A very touching poem.
I particularly like how you introduced 'the rose of Sharon" and went on to say a rose exceptionally blossomed in an autumn and how you smelled the rose in the room.

One small thing, I think it should be "working through my grief" instead of "grieve".

Such beautiful heartfelt daughter's love for a Mother felt here....and there is surely nothing stronger. She would be listening to you with such pride. What a wonderful tribute fit for a Queen. Thank you for sharing such a personal piece.

No words can do justice to the pure, simple love of a child for
her mother...But your's come close. Thank you.
