ABOVE THE STORMS

ABOVE THE STORMS

A Poem by Ellen Hammond
"

Hopefully a poem of inspiration for those who seem to be ravaged by storms in their lives.

ABOVE THE STORMS

When dark clouds start to gather,
Don’t cower in fear! Don’t hide!
Dread not the stormy weather,
For the Lord is by your side.

Learn from the mighty eagles.
They fly to the highest peaks,
And there they stand, so regal.
As the stronger wind, they seek.

Still as the storm is brewing,
Eagles set their wings, and wait.
No fear in what they’re doing,
Though the storm does not abate.

The dark clouds they do notice.
Stormy winds begin to roar.
Mere escape, not their motive.
From their lofty perch, they soar.

The updraft lifts them higher.
All below, the storm enshrouds.
But sunshine they’ll admire,
Above the threatening clouds.

So when your life storms gather,
Look to God and make the choice.
Learn from each one you weather,
As you heed His gentle voice.

Each storm will lift you higher,
If in faith, on Him, you lean.
When its His Will you desire,
Strength and wisdom, you will glean.

Fear not, the storms that gather.
Be still! Listen for His voice.
Then in the midst of chaos,
You’ll find reasons to rejoice.

Every storm, you can soar above,
With blessings, each cloud He’ll line.
In faith, trust His Word and His love.
With hope see glorious SON-shine.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Another wonderful poem.
Really inspirational, descriptive.
I must admit though, the other poem about the storms had a bigger wow-factor, although since that was so great, it doesn't make this poem a bad one.
Great piece.

Yours truly,

Very inspirational and I love your usage of the metaphors. Your pictures are also lovely with the poem. The imagery of your metaphor (the Eagle) is so vivid and profound that I can't help but imagine the bold creature gliding just above the clouds finding comfort in God's light. Well written. :)

A fine piece of inspirational writing. Your faith is always shining through like the Son.;) And your poetic prowess abounds in this piece as well!

but don't forget:

Matthew 5:45

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Cheers!

A device I used myself, in an elegy for a beloved Aunt, some four years ago!
I'll find that poem and load it tomorrow.
Ellen, you've finally done it. You've run me slap out of adjectives. I don't know
what more I can say about the way your beautiful verse affects my heart, than
what I have already said, except to add that whenever I think I've read the most
soul-stirring poem I could imagine, I need but turn to your page for a comeuppance--
there's always a new horizon broached there!

Ellen, What wonderful wisdom for others to read and live by...if only...then the world would be a soooo much better place for us all to get on with each other. Everyone should take a page out of your book.
This is a very strong religious, comforting poem..Thank you so much for sharing.
