To Love, To be Loved

To Love, To be Loved

A Poem by Elizabeth La
"

A romantic poem regarding the beauty of Love, and it's intrinsic values.

"

Time is not an ally when I am with you,

Because with you, I could stay forever.

And while it brings an end to our little finity,

Time will always be the wave we surf.

The beginning to the end, of our Story

Are like memories and untagged photos in an album

Cherished for as long as I have my sanity.

When I am with you, there is only space,

A place to be, a wish to linger.

I see the stars in your eyes

A fragment of the Universe given to me.

There is no possession, because I can only love you

and in loving you, count the minutes before our departure.

(With time our natural enemy.)

But in loving you"  admiring you, cherishing you,

and all that you are" with your grace, your heart, your poise.

You’ve given me the greatest gift of all,

To love, to be loved.

This fulfills the feeling of want, even counting the minutes before our departures, yes the man or woman shall board the train or build a boat, your poise, I did not think of that, but the poise is all inclusive, thank you for this agreement an agreement in time it frustration it's havoc wreaking gravity, like a dominant chord of seasons

For me, in reading this, it evokes a sense of fulfillment - not necessarily being able to articulate everything that you want to say to someone or even to yourself. But instead simply being satisfied in their presence for as long as it lasts. Very evocative.
