MineA Poem by Elizabeth LowellA dark twist in the elevated notion of love.Mine. That’s not what love is supposed to be, but
that’s all that I find my self doing everytime I follow this shadowy path. It is always the same and a matter of time, before I start yelling “MINE” from the top of my lungs. Don’t mistake this reflection for jealousy, no. that’s the other side of the mirror, the one with the mischievous smile. This side does not smile, is never content, driven away by the demons of the ego and ghosts of superiority. When you don’t look, on your ignorance it feeds, crawling inside the walls of logic, each step another crack, another moment damaged, another thought tainted. Run. There is nothing else to do. Run, escape the explosion of glass, the cold shards of your conscience. But no matter what you do, always remember that you can’t hide from the beast. The crystal now lies distorted, crushed under a divided mask. The fog emerges from the frame. Too late. Run. © 2015 Elizabeth LowellAuthor's Note
