The Sound of MadnessA Story by Elizabeth JensenThis is a short story that I just wrote.
Dance" he said.
"Dance you despicable, worthless imbecile; dance, so that you forget your pain and your traumas. Dance.. Dance so that the world forgets you, you foolish piece of dirt. Dance, so that no one, not even your own mother, would look you in the eye again. I will eat you whole." Harish bowed and began to dance. He danced so gracefully and so truthfully that all the members of the church started to applaud him. "Do not applaud him, fools! He is a mere idiot, a utter waste of breath, time and space. Do not interfere with my methods. Yes; that is it my ladies and gentlemen. Spit; yell; kick; hit; do not stand back and applaud this worthless imbecile. He is not worth my time at all. But I.. I know when my people need their entertainment. And now is such a moment. He an animal, can't you see? I will kill him with my spare hands! I will cut out his liver! But first, let him make a fool out of himself. Did you hear me, Harish? A fool, yes, that's what you are!" Harish danced and danced. He started to kick and scream; his muscles were sore and his feet began to bleed. The pain.. The pain. Oh no, he couldn't just forget about it, he would not forget about it. This man, this beast, this morbid creature that they called the Devil.. Harish swore to himself that he would kill him himself. © 2014 Elizabeth Jensen |
