I Seem To Be Running Late.

I Seem To Be Running Late.

A Poem by Ellie Howard
"

We're all late sometimes, aren't we? Maybe this time i won't be. Maybe this is my note.

"

I’m trapped in an inevitable sadness,

I’m sorry,

I regret to inform you,

 that I must go.

I am due,

In respect of a peculiar due date.

It is a date arranged,

 Inexcusable for delay by any circumstance.

I bid you farewell,

If you’d so ever be obliged to do the same.

I obtain a plot,

An unavoidable novelty twist

To the ending of a story short lived,

The footnote of my possession,

An everlasting burden,

peaked by a dreaded indignation.

My deed of living;

The day of my riddance has passed

And come again,

Only this time I choose to indulge

In my pursuit to terminate a bitter wage

ill-Conceived in an altruistic manner;

Only a thought of one’s desires,

And not of another’s nature in sorrow.

I regret to inform you,

 that I must go;

I need not be late,

For there awaits no welcome for my arrival...

I do regret to inform you,

There is an alternate meaning

Forged within these words.

Remind me of the Alice in wonderland Rabbit. Places to go and no time to waste. I like the flow of thoughts and the energy in the poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

My god. This so simply powerful that I had to reread it a few times to make sure that I was actually absorbing it. This is very sad but in a way almost beautiful and kind of final. I love it. Great job,
