Dead Memory

Dead Memory

A Poem by Ellie Howard
"

I was inspired to write this song from the album ThreeCheers for SweetRevenge by My ChemicalRomance.I grew withMCR through the crucial transitions in my life from childhood to teenhood and so forth.

"

Our childhoods, dead,

now the mourning of our youth lingering in our hands,

Will you look up to the sky

to see the mists of the memories

that were too soon to die?

Our childhoods, dead,

now I don’t look far behind.

You hide your anger in your capsules,

And collapse from the poison that you drank.

The solitary gates conceal you from your rage,

And lock you to the ground of your grave.

Bleeding on the floor,

You slit your wrists through a never ending lament,

As I bled to your mausoleum doors.

A childhood ever so lost,

Dead memory in my wake.

Gravity pulls be down aside your tomb,

And the sorrows of our loss

blacken the cemetery drive leading to you,

and to what further awaits.

This is a song i was inspired to write after years of listening to the band My Chemical Romance. I'd like to say that i have such a strong connection with their music, especially to the album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge released in 2004. I remember first listening to MCR at the age of 10, a late transition from 2007-2008. This band has literally saved me from many things i would have done to my self as young. I still listen and cherish the music and deep meaning of the band today and plan to for a very long time, maybe even the rest of my life.

the song has sad tunes but it was nicely penned. i liked it although, unlike you, i think that childhood never dies. we still remember details of events happened at the time of our childhood. these events had great effect on our characters. where and how we were brought up at our childhood is the major factor of how we are right now..
