On the Edge of Choice

On the Edge of Choice

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield
"

Something inspired by another writer here and robert frost. If the living inspiration ever reads this, hopefully they will know who they are.

"

Standing on the edge

Pondering the ledge

One slip up

One wrong step

And the frost underfoot

will cause me to trip

then the fir below

Might consume me

As fuel

Desire is no

Easy thing to duel

Hatred

Oh undiluted rage

Tempered with cold fear

The world is your stage

Now the end is surely near

Ice crystals surround me

I look down from great height

Lava to my left,

The earth to my right

A battle is raging

Within me tonight

If I choose wrong

If I make one mistake

Who knows how bad

The consequences might be?

I totally understand when a person needs/wants to make an important choice and it consumes them.
