Sorry Doesn't Cut It

Sorry Doesn't Cut It

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield

You say you're sorry

What you did was wrong

But you don't mean it

You don't care as long

As you get what you want

From this life

But It's not Yours

It's mine

It doesn't matter

How sorry you are

There's no forgiveness

For breaking my heart

Until you see

What you've really

Done to hurt me

You don't deserve it

But even then

Sorry doesn't cut it

It's true, you shouldn't say sorry when you don't mean it, but I think that being forgiving is one of the best virtues we can have.
But still, great poem. I really like it. It flows beautifully.
Well written.

Sorry is an overused word, people come to say it out of habit. Words mean nothing if you do not understand what it is your sorry for and why an apology must be from the heart to be of any use. And of course he/she must have learned from whatever it is they did wrong. This is a great poem, thank you.
