Drowning in ParadiseA Poem by Elizabeth PorterfieldYou tell me what it's about.
Drowning in the words I can't escape. But why would anyone run from their paradise? Isn't it all that it's Made out to be? Perfection? Peacefulness? Beauty incarnate? Or is your paradise Made manifest in the storms Of life? In the terrible floods? The beating winds? The lightening and the thunder? I will never know for sure. Now I'm sinking under Your paradise, Entering my own, Becoming things existing, That I have never truly known. I am one with the whirlpool Of Words That is drowning me. © 2012 Elizabeth Porterfield |
