The Takeover

The Takeover

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield
"

I've been feeling like words have become who I am, like they have become my lifesource, like words are everything to me. This is how I try to explain that.

"

Diction and Syntax

Float round in my head

As I try to express

A feeling long gone and dead

Words flow from my soul

And the current is strong

I'm lost in the movement

As they pull me along

I'm dead to this world

But alive in my mind

As the words take over me

I can't go back, there's no rewind
