My Release

My Release

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield
"

This is a song that an ex-boyfriend of mine helped me write, without really knowing it. I laugh now at how I thought that we would finish it together, but everything ends.

"

It's getting darker and I can't see

Where I'm going now

And I'm wondering

Have I lost my way?

There's so much inside

That I need to just let go of

(Sub Chorus)

As the heavens fall from the sky

I hear a voice whisper softly

(Chorus)

Scream, let it all out

All your anger, all your misery

In the time of fallen angels

Let it rise, let it rise

Just let go

Confusion and hatred and fear

All stand their ground

As I try to find my way

I'm at a dead end now

I fall to my knees

And I begin to break

(Sub Chorus)

(Chorus)

So as I lay broken and bleeding

It all crashes down and I just

(Chorus x2)

"My release" is a name that really suits this piece of art. I felt a kind of liberation while reading these lines. They are written simply but they carry one hell of a spirit.
