Chapter 9: Control

Chapter 9: Control

A Chapter by Elizabeth Porterfield

Control is a drug

More addictive than dope

Or pills

Or alcohol

We all feel like we have to have control

To survive

You don’t shoot it up

It’s not smoked

You can’t ingest it

For some

It’s harder to get than coke

And more pricey than a line

But once they’ve had a taste

They’re hooked

Then there are those

Who pop it like prescription pills

Or

Like it’s E or Oxy

And it’s easier than pie

To get their hands on

You can overdose on control

But not in the normal way that anyone can see

It rots your soul

Eats away at you like krokodil

And in the end you’re left alone

Having withdrawals

You have no one left to control

Because you have no one left at all
