EscapeA Poem by Elizabeth PorterfieldJust a random thought... Well, maybe not so random...
I want to escape
From what you ask? From fakers From people who take all they can get And never give anything back From the hatred those eyes bear me Those cold dead eyes In the faces of the people who are supposed to care for me I want to escape From who you ask? From the lyers From the ones who cheat us all From the ones who seek my poison To hurt I want to escape Why you ask? Because I'm tired of hurting people Tired of haunting the ones I loved and let go I'm tired of leaving them hanging by a thread As their chances of new life and love shrink And I grow I'm tired of being thought the weak one And having to prove my strength I'm tired of whatever powers I have over people Tired of being able to control them Yet having no control of myself... I want to escape To start over To become something new Can I escape this? © 2013 Elizabeth PorterfieldAuthor's Note
