Heriditary Demons

Heriditary Demons

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield
"

A very twisted lulaby

"

(Refrain)

Say goodbye

And goodnight

To the demons

That may haunt you

Close your eyes

Shut them tight

And the demons

Run away

This is what

Her mother told her

When I said

I'd come to stay

This is how

I often fooled her

Lead her young clean

Mind astray

Now she's screaming

Crying weeping

She thought I was

So long gone

Now her mother's

Sleeping dreaming

Death's hold on her

Oh so strong

Refrain

This is what

She told her daughter

When she couldn't

Sleep at night

This is how I

Drove her crazy

Haunting holding

On so tight

Now she's grieving

Mother's leaving

She must pass

Her curse along

To her daughter

Now acheiving

Peace she's needed

For so long

Refrain

And so my legacy

Continues...
