A Chapter by Evie

All my life, I've been alone.
No friends, no siblings, and no parents that cared enough to keep me for more than a day.
I was left as a newborn behind a cold gravestone in the Callingbird Church Cemetery. Deserted and apart, I lay there, crying in the snow, my breath leaving tiny puffs in the frosty air.
How I know all this?
Well, I don't. Not really.
It's how I imagine it though.
As I grew older, I never even bothered trying to find my parents. They wouldn't want me anyway. So I stayed, alone in the cemetery, surrounded by the ghosts of past people. I often wondered why I hadn't joined them sooner. Why I hadn't frozen to death the day my parents left me. Why I hadn't starved.
The answer to that is entwined with a boy with messy brown hair and the deepest eyes I've ever seen.
His name is Zayden.
