Bandage

Bandage

A Poem by Elise

Hypocrisy rings us dry
Emotion wear us raw
Expectations draw the blood
Resentment forms a thick crusting scab

Follow me into the dark
For the light we can no longer believe
Follow me into the dark
This is what we call love

I was iffy on this until I read the end, and then I was able to understand it and enjoy it. It's rare that a poem throws a twist, well done. However, the first two lines of the first stanza seem a bit mundane. I would like to see some personal flair, it seems like a beginning to a lecture, make it a piece from your heart.
