Love At Its GreatestA Poem by ShannonElise
My heart is hurting and my lungs are sore. I search for you to heal me,
I wanna breathe you in. I want you to heal this pain filled heart, and these tortured lungs. But you aren't here. I search and search. I call out your name, its like your not real. I cry out "Where are you?!" But still..nothing. I search every corner, every crack. And just when I had about given up, I hear your voice. It was almost like a light was finally peeking through the fog. "My child, I am here," you say. "But you weren't! You left me!" I screamed and anger began to fill me. But still as gentle and as calm he says back. "Child, I have been here for you since before you were born. It wasn't me who left you, it was you who left me." I shake my head. "That's a lie." He just shook his back and said, "No, its the truth. Have I ever lied?" The anger dissipated and sorrow replaced it. "I'm sorry," I said as I fell to my knees. He picked me up and held me tight. "I love you," he replied. "But how?" I asked. "I left you." He nodded and said with sadness in his eyes. "You aren't the first and you wont be the last. And even though you put up a fight you finally came home cause you knew it was right." Still a little confused I ask him one more thing. "But why would you forgive me?" With a smile he says, "Because I am forgiveness, I am love, I am the way, and remember? I made you." With that I was fine and happy and safe as I felt his embrace, "I love you." I said. His reply? "I know child. So do I, so do I." © 2011 ShannonEliseReviews
