Writer's BlockA Poem by Elise O'HaireI actually was feeling the effects of writer's block, but now I'm much better. :)
It creeps slowly upon you
One minute you have a great idea
And the next it’s as if you’ve never written before
And now you tap your fingers
Waiting patiently
An idea will come, you assure yourself
But after an hour hopeless feelings arise
Maybe if you go outside
And enjoy the cool night air
If only you could think of something now
It would be of great cheer
A story about a puppy would be nice
But that’s much too sentimental
Maybe something ‘bout a long lost love
But that’s too popular
So now you tap your fingers
Waiting patiently
Maybe an idea will come
But now you aren’t so sure
You could write about the sun, moon, or stars
But you’ve attempted that before
And it’s not that fun
So for now you will wait
As you tap your fingers
Assuring yourself once more
An idea will soon come
