Prologue

            Have you ever heard of possessed dolls?

They say when a person passes away a part of their soul gets left behind on earth, possibly in their possessions. Their scent in their clothes, their prints on walls, and if it's a child, a part of their soul, in dolls.

            I've heard that a soul on earth seeks to be complete, filling the void inside with whatever and whoever comes its way, but a soul is an infinite being. It is not incomplete, it's just hollow. You feed it and you feed it but it will never be full. Scents fade, fingerprints get wiped off, but the part of a soul that gets left behind, feeds.

            The soul compels the human to make decisions that would bring in whatever the individual feels they need to be whole. It will try and try again till it can no more. So what happens when a soul inside a doll, cannot do as it wants, how does a trapped soul fill the void inside itself?

            It does not. It cannot.

 

            But that doesn't mean it won’t try.

Seems like something I would like to read even though I don't read horror because a book has never scared me, but this seems interesting. The tone is settled and the point of view as well.

Everyone is asking me to, it wasn't intended to be written further to be honest, but now I'm considering it, if I did write, it would be my first 'book' and I'm not sure how to proceed.

Creepy! Possessed dolls wanting to fill up the void left by death – good premises for a ghost story. After watching Chucky as a kid I threw away all my dolls and slept with the light on for weeks, still that didn't stop me from seeing Chucky's Bride :) I am a big fan of the genre, and my fondness for scary stories supersedes my fear. I would definitely read the novel, if you were to write it. How scary would it be? :)

Well, that usually happens when you start writing various stories ( or novels) at the same time. I talk from experience :) If only there was a way to make ourselves focus on one thing at a time :(

Im actually not writing anything on the side. I always write short pieces never an entire story in a novel format. So I'm having trouble getting started. like I said, my mind is all over the place.

When you said, "It does not. It cannot," I instantly got bored, like "What's the point if it can't do anything?" Then you came back and said, "But that doesn't mean it won't try," I went from bored to asking ten thousand questions. There's not much I can say about this yet other than keep going. Hash out the first draft quickly and don't care about any errors. You won't know the whole shape of the story until you get that done. I think this has the potential to be incredibly interesting.

Ah the concept is quite different actually, in this video the girl touches a doll in a mysterious doll shop and gets sucked in it. My story is regarding the death of children who's souls or parts of souls get left behind and the most comfortable place for them to reside in is their favourite toy, in this case, a doll.
