Frankenstein Cubist Poem

Frankenstein Cubist Poem

A Poem by Elijah M. Dapkus
"

This is a poem written about the book ´Frankenstein´ by Mary Shelley. It is written from three perspectives - Dr. Frankenstein, the creature, and Shelley herself.

"

Confusion upon conception,

I pioneered my way through life.

No one helped me,

They only cared to let me suffer.

So suffer silently I did,

All thanks to my creator.

My cursed, hateful creator,

Who shall make me another being.

Eager to finish my work,

I hastily brought the creature to life.

I had no assistance,

And this proved to be fatal.

I could reveal nothing about my work to anyone,

And now it roams free, doing evil just to spite me.

My cursed, loathing creature,

I shall never give it happiness!

Hateful monster, crazed creator,

They each worked so hard in their short lives.

One learned the rudiments of acting human when he largely wasn’t,

One learned the means to bring the dead to life.

So much evil, now,

Builds inside them as they become more bitter rivals.

If just one of them were allowed some happiness,

This story may not be so spoiled.
