To you, from me

This is a love letter to someone I care about very much. It's telling them more I'm scared to fall in love with them.

The small letter of love from you to me
Is something that I've dreaded to write
Out of fear that I will no longer be
The me who is this free is a flying kite

To be a prisoner of what I've learned
From my parents of the thing they call "love"
Living in a battlefield always spurned
By the one I claimed as my belove

This constant fear I have is that you will
Become this cage I've lived in all my life
Makes me fly so far beyond the word ill
And has me living in a constant strife

But I constantly wish to restart
So you can be the one I give my heart
