Dollar Bill

Dollar Bill

A Poem by Elijah Gleaves
"

Cash rules everything around me C.R.E.A.M. get the money dollar dollar bill y'all

"
Why
Is my skin color
A symbol for greed?
Why am I
Considered
The root of all evil;
My Bold face,
A decoration for the tree of woe?
I am accused
Of funding biological weaponry,
Yet,
I cure your insecurities
And feed your children.
I bleed the desires of men.
I pass from hand
To hand
Like dry leaves
In a fall wind.
I am the original tragic hero;
The slave that built your American Dream.

i like how you started the poem with the word Why and gave it its very own line because when we write a poem lots of times we are simply asking why or stating a simple yet true reality and asking why it is so poems are just a form of asking why.

wow... i loved this... really awesome write :D
i loved your comparisons like these lines here:
"Is my skin color
A symbol for greed?"
and also...
"The root of all evil;"
hmm and "tree of woe"
i like how you put the meaning in it, and importance like
"I cure your insecurities"
and
"Like dry leaves
In a fall wind." ... really nice how you wrote that.
This is really well written, creative too. :D

If it really was the root of all evil, why aren't there any money trees in my front yard?

"I bleed the desires of men.", this is a most annoyingly terrific line, it fills me with questions, do you mean the blood spill by those that choose to fight back, or the blood split of those under control of another, tempered and perfectly written my darling, well done

WOW! Hell yes! The dollar bill, a creation that has so much symbolism on it! It is unbelievable! A lot to decipher from it! Not right! Greed, debt, power! Thats all its about! This is brilliant! xx

Your words speak the truth. The mighty dollar control all things. I don't blame the dollar. The controller of where and who received the dollar can be blamed. Poor dollar isn't as strong as she use to be. I like the example of funding and the strong ending to the poem. Thank you for a excellent poem. Made me think this late evening.
