ImpressionsA Poem by Elijah GleavesFirst impressions are hard to live downWhat am I to you? Am I a distant figure, As meaningless as the weather in L.A. When you reside on the eastcoast? Or am I a nuisance? The rain turning your sunshine into gray; Your rainbows into blurred water colors? Maybe I'm the vodka and orange juice in your cup? Your liquid confidence dressed in blue jeans And old tennis shoes. Am I simply The mirrored image reflected By the glass of your almond eyes? Constantly judged by the standards Set inside the recesses of your conscience. The Gleaves derived from your imagination- Ignorant to my reality. Who am I to you? I am the embodiment of a first impression. Unchanging and irrevocable. © 2011 Elijah GleavesReviews
