Thoughts as I learn to Meditate

Thoughts as I learn to Meditate

A Story by Eli_blu
"

This is a little taste of how it feels to just be learning how to meditate properly. It's a lot harder than you might think, and it's hard to describe, but I did my best.

"

Thoughts as I meditate.

The job is to count to ten with out thinking of anything but the number you’re on. If you catch yourself thinking, then you’ve got to start over at one.

I know that. Shush!

Blank slate blank slate blank slate. *Tabula rasa.* Shush!

Blank slate...

One.

How long do I wait? Shush! (You will know.)

One.

...

There is a car passing by.

Damn! Shush!

It’s not working, I can’t be a blank slate (Like a blank sheet your mind is white. Use the fabric to blunt the edges of your thoughts and they will fade away.)

Let’s try it!

Blank sheet...

One.

...

Two.

... So this is what he meant. Shush!

Blank sheet...

One.

...

Two.

... *Blank sheet*

Does that count as a thought?

DAMN!

Shush!

I just wrote this while I was bored in class one day. It's a cool experience, trying to meditate. You might want to try it.

I never liked writing until fourth grade, when my teacher started to require us to write a page a day. I wrote poetry in a big hand to stretch the rules, but eventually I started to explore. I had a w.. more..
