Thoughts
hiking in and out of my mind,
thinking through talk and silence.
i dwell on some thoughts,
build them big and strong like the canyon walls.
sometimes i'll punch right through one,
or create bridges across.
but more often i think like the river,
swift, steady and silent.
i wind back and forth,
changing directions indecisively.
in the evening i meditate,
on all thoughts of the day.
my mind lays out before me,
like the clear night sky.
each thought glows individually,
a tiny star in the vast sea of my mind.
some unite to form a greater picture,
while some are smaller, less important.
other shine brightly on the edges,
but i ignore them, they are important, but scary.
eventually the moon rises, and i look up at it and think,
"l am here, in this beautiful place."
This is the most important thought of all.
