THE ALIENS 1A Poem by Eli RosePart of a four-part series of poems also titled 'THE ALIENS'THE ALIENS appeared in the sky with
their impressive spaceships More than ten thousand
strong, they hung there, ghost-blue in
the infinite midnight. When morning came they landed on cornfields,
dairy marts, movieplexes Emerged, wearing
molecular suits and silver helmets tentacled and bloated, their
skin shining emerald When the first alien stepped
off his ship and onto the soil, he suddenly froze. he seemed to look, to stare
at the people in the crowd. Then took off his helmet to reveal a strange face
crying with joy. “We found you!” he laughed “We finally found you!” he said, shaking his head,
wiping the tears from his eyes. © 2010 Eli RoseReviews
