I Met An Angel

My amazing asf boyfriend wrote this for me and omg, no words.

Quite some time ago I met this girl.

She opened up to me.

There was so much more,

I wish I knew what was in store.

I felt like I knew her my whole life,

She did not wear robes of ivory,

Instead, was drowned in strife.

She showed cuts and scars, where she tried to escape the pain,

As we sat sheltered from the heavy rain.

She had wings like any other,

or so she was told by her loving mother.

Her wings were clipped,

unable to fly.

So she kept them hidden under layers of black,

away from seeing eyes.

They were broken, beaten and curled.

She tried so hard to escape this fucked up world.

She is beautiful,

even when she is not at her best

she'll deny it and say,

"You're just like the rest."

She is loving and kind,

It pains me to see her and her anxious mind.

She sits and drinks bottles of whiskey,

until she is far past the point of tipsy.

At some point she breaks down to cry,

and pleads to herself "God, why."

I fell in love with her,

She felt the same!

I was overjoyed, happy,

but I tried to seem tame.

Some days she's scared and insecure.

She has no idea how much she means to me,

so she asks me if I'm sure.

Her smile lights up my day,

and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm so glad she loves me back.
