Lay Me in the Water

Lay Me in the Water

A Poem by Chelsea Marie
"

This actually began as song lyrics I was writing :p

"
Restoration of a memory,
Fallen pieces that blow away on a fragile wind.
I'm in need of a sign,
Cleanse my hands of crimson.
Lay me down in sheets of anguish and let this fall away.
Today, I've called on my pride,
Called down my love of your face
To put these lies in the ground.
Now, I have become a prophet,
Grown up to what the mirror has shown me.
Lay me in the water.
My bones, so frail.
My wings, torn and broken.
Lay me in the water,
I'm in desperate need of sleep.
Creation of a masterpiece,
A broken image that cannot please their noble hearts.
Spread the wings of vanity,
For beauty rests in the core.
Lay me down in these sheets of irony and take the horror away.
Put me to sleep,
Leave me in the dark as I look toward the sky.
Open my arms, my eyes, my soul,
And scream "Save me".
A creation of the soul,
A masterpiece,
Begins with but a single stroke.
Lay me in the water,
Beneath the surface, submerged.
I will fall away to sleep.
Lay me in the water.
