ode to Joy

ode to Joy

A Poem by Eldridge Dulatas
"

admiration for my friend, way back on my last days in college

"
...And then she entered the cold room
With glance that ignites the weakest of flames
Time mellowed down as her feet traverse my direction
Hands cold, ecstatic to hear her talk,
Speechless, as her voice resound in deafening silence

Seemed a perfect judgement from past upon birth,
Predicting such name that complements an aura in one's future
But then you realize how premature to assume such flawed coincidence
Because she emits Joy in a stressful setting,
Whilst absorbing pain and anxiety all for herself

And small talks turned into big moments
Ecstasy high as I fall into her
As the end draws closer and closer
Feelings kept as I watched her walk farther

...And then it's time to leave the room
With short run filled with distant memories
Trying to make her stay was a long shot
A shot I never had the courage to aim.

I like the poem title and the metaphor in lines 9 and 10. I felt a bit lost with the lack of some punctuation, especially in the last stanza.
