Awakening

Awakening

A Poem by Eldridge Dulatas
"

inspired by our national hero, Jose Rizal. Hope for a better tomorrow.

"

Born in the age of dawn

A choice denied but fate bestowed

In terrain bombarded by unending oppression

Freedom is screaming but unfairly on hold

One is clueless on what’s about to unfold

Raised in the outskirts of poverty

He surfaced the land on par with a prince

But the blind man evolved and is now starting to see

Baffled by the unjust and cruel society

Abandoned the castle to serve the true kings

Like a breeze that fights a furious storm

A cat challenged the ferocious mountain lion

He conquered life ready for battle

Dared by obstacles to break all norms

To free others from unending struggle

The world noticed a force like the Big Bang

That catalyst life in a dreadful scene

Devoured evil like a hungry infant

Plains replenished and unbelievably clean

“Morning has come” a popular chant

Torches are burned to celebrate peace

Flames ignited to prepare for sunrise

Established his figure as a symbol for hope

In the new era where no one cries

Freedom discovered like stars on scope
