A Paradise of Strangers

A Paradise of Strangers

A Poem by Elaenor Aisling

You found yourself

in a paradise of strangers

all going one direction or another,

though none towards you.

You stood alone on the sidelines

not sure who to follow

where to go

Seemed everyone had a place

except you.

But then,

you decided to

make your own way

and took off

through that sea of strangers

into the unkown.

Wow. I more than just love this! In so few words, you have captured a moment perfectly. The travails of life, the loneliness and desolation, but also the will to fight against the tide, to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, to derive faith from within oneself. The fact that I could extrapolate so much from so few words is testimony to your skills.

I wonder how often most of us feel just this way? Sure, it's happens when we have moved to a new city, or find ourselves travelling somewhere new, but in my experience, I find it to be so in my everyday life, even more.

A physical moment used to convey a philosophical problem. Excellent. Thanks for the read.

The sound of silence everywhere people come and go yet a lonelier world cold hardly be found

You captured the feel of the crowd in this poem quite well, and the indicision that comes from a crowded place. It almost makes you feel as if you were being forced to make a choice from lack of time. A brilliant use of brevity

That's how this world is. we're always going into a paradise of strangers, and if we're lucy we find true friendship. A beautiful meaningful write.

Wow, this is a powerfilled write. This is New York, Atlanta, LA. This is our crowded life! Terrific!! My favorite line was "in a paradise of strangers." I love to talk to and befriend strangers, because they expect nothing from me. Knowledge is most, assuredly, found in the sea of unknown strangers.

i'm a fan of this, i really like the way it goes together. For some reason made me think of standing in a train station wondering where you want it to take you to before you make up your mind.
