A Paradise of Strangers

A Paradise of Strangers

A Poem by Elaenor Aisling

You found yourself

in a paradise of strangers

all going one direction or another,

though none towards you.

You stood alone on the sidelines

not sure who to follow

where to go

Seemed everyone had a place

except you.

But then,

you decided to

make your own way

and took off

through that sea of strangers

into the unkown.

Wow. I more than just love this! In so few words, you have captured a moment perfectly. The travails of life, the loneliness and desolation, but also the will to fight against the tide, to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, to derive faith from within oneself. The fact that I could extrapolate so much from so few words is testimony to your skills.

This is great! Such a real feeling described so clearly and left to be even more real. I really enjoyed reading this as most everyone has probably felt this at some point. It is what we do that makes us unique. I just really like how cleanly written this is. :)

Well, paradise sounds awesome! But with strangers? Um...no. No matter if its a paradise er not!

It's like not conforming , walking in the other direction and finding yourself.

Firstly, let me say I enjoyed reading this. However, a couple of errors noted:-

"in a paridise of strangers" - should say "paradise"
"no sure who to follow" - surely should say "not"

Errors aside, it is an interesting piece which allows simple, yet effective imagery to flow forth. Thank you.

A moment approached when I doubted my own acquaintanceship with those whom I lived with. A very good approach to a materialistic world.

Such gorgeous imagery! And so uplifting, too!! May we all be like the person in this poem -- one who marches to the beat of their own drum!!

Keep up the good work! An absolutely fab read!! :)

This is excellent... I love the imagery of someone walking in the opposite direction of the crowd into the unknown... it could easily be a metaphor for someone standing up for what they believe is right against a swarm of people...
