Wow. I more than just love this! In so few words, you have captured a moment perfectly. The travails of life, the loneliness and desolation, but also the will to fight against the tide, to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, to derive faith from within oneself. The fact that I could extrapolate so much from so few words is testimony to your skills.
Could to escape places where we do not belong. I do understand this poem. Good to wander away and find a place where we can be content. A very good ending to a excellent poem.

i'm going to save this one as a favorite. you are really great, such imagery and perfect rendition of something that could be old and twice-baked, and turned it into something that just captures the mind and takes you in.

my only suggestion is one of comfort and not desperation, i would put a stanza break between ideas, just to give that much more emphasis.
otherwise, i do quite like this and i really enjoy the way you write. you've infused confusion and indecision and made the outcome still hopeful. brilliant.
