Midnight Diner

Midnight Diner

A Poem by Declan
"

A problem close to my heart. We all know someone that has an addiction and we know what it can do. This is just my personal experience.

"
Here again, in this midnight diner
Waiting for a daily reminder,
Reminder of hazy days gone past
‘Cause these aching pains seem to last
And this coffee brew is no cure

But, this coffee cold and clear
Thus begins this lingering fear
Looking around, all gauntly faces
These haunting booths, though no places
What brings them, is there some lure?

Now images come fluttering in
My stomach lining paper thin
Realisation settling swiftly now
Before, dry eyes, now tears flow
In this hand a glass of liquor

This is where my life lives…
