Midwinters Frost

Midwinters Frost

A Poem by El Cu Cuy

I gaze upon her enchanting form,
So small and beautiful, full of warmth.
I see her belly swollen with child,
As she breaths so slowly her heart going wild.
She shivers and shakes from some unknown assailant,
I cradle her and hold her, protecting her from this ailment.
She whimpers and squirms, her face contorted in pain,
I whisper to her soothing words of comfort to keep her sane.
Her skin so sweaty from the vigorous attack,
I comfort and massage as I caress her back.
As she rolls over and starts to shake,
I try and move her and sooth her awake.
As she jolts with a start her heart racing,
I hold her and caress her gently, creating a casing.
She turns to me with fear in her eyes,
I knew that she dreamed of all those nights.
Her eyes the color of an evergreen tree,
The same as me.
Her skin glowed in the light of the moon,
I didn't think she'd wake so soon.
She seems so scared and completely lost,
But her skin glowed like mid-winters frost.
