My Goddess of Light

My Goddess of Light

A Poem by El Cu Cuy

I'm floating on a cloud of darkness, so soothing and soundless

I stand up and turn around, looking for that goddess.

She seems so near, yet far away,

She's calling out to me, but I can't get away.

I see the light, I start to thump, I try to run and make a jump.

Only to fall so far down, I hear their laughter, it makes me frown.

I feel the dark cloud rearing up, it flies down faster not giving up.

I feel it engulf me, and flow into my heart.

The anger and hatred settling with a start.

I look back up to see that light, the Goddess still calling,

Begging me to fight.

I see a ladder, and begin to climb, feeling this hatred all the time.

As I put one hand over the other, I try to look for some sort of cover.

I feel the hands from those laughing voices, try to snatch me from my choices.

I shake them off and begin to ascend, and reach the top and turn the bend.

I see the light, my Goddess within reach, I turn around and heard a screech.

The Laughter followed and I looked away, I told them that this is where I stay.

They reared their ugly heads, but I kept them at bay.

I knew that they wouldn't win me this day.

I turned to my Goddess, bathed in light,

And kneeled down in glory of my triumphant fight.

As I grasped her hand, and pulled her in tight.

That I was going to have a pleasant night.
