Cry of the night lark.A Poem by El Cu CuyI was so emotionless at the time.I stand alone in the dark. Looking for the lark that sings. The song that rejuvinates the mind and soul. I find emptiness instead. I walk down the street with my mind torn. I see the devil with one long horn. He beckons me inside his house. With sin carpeting the floor and couch. I weep with sorrow as I see the damned. Walking around with sand in their hands. They look at me with souless eyes. Trying to tell me all the lies. I tell the devil that I must go. He looks at me and says, "I know." I thank him for the offer, But I must turn it down. I walk the streets with my head held down. My eyes are vacant as my soul weakens. I look up from my lost thoughts. I see a child, so weary and weak. I walk past him as he looks so meak. The thoughts that are rushing through my mind. They were once so beautiful and so kind. I've lost it all; my persona and heart. I wish with my thoughts that I'd found that lark. © 2009 El Cu CuyAuthor's Note
