Underneath the Willow

Underneath the Willow

A Poem by Eric Kaun
"

death and love, holding hands. its beautiful.

"

Underneath the willow
The water cools my feet
Flowing slowly ‘round me
As tadpoles swim along.
Underneath the willow
The quiet feels so real
Moss acts as a cradle
There’s everything to feel.
Underneath the willow
I close my eyes to sleep
Birds fly and sing above
And crickets start to chirp.
Underneath the willow
I’ve longed to hear her call
Sitting in the sunlight
The world feeling small.
Underneath the willow
I cannot claim her love
Yet nature goes on
With red droplets in the pond.
Underneath the willow
My final resting place
My breath starts to shallow
A calm crosses my face.
