Jesus' Cry

Jesus' Cry

A Poem by EJF

God granted peace to Adam, But death reigned on, God granted death to Eve the mother of sin, but death reigned on, The devil himself laughed in glee, only in horror to see Seth walk and bounce Noah on his knee, the world then destroyed, the devil thought himself a victor then, but nay, alas, twas not so, as Noah’s sons populated the earth, so came sons and daughters of angels and demons alike, giants on earth with mighty might, peace only granted with the birth of Jesus, Mary's soul wandering in worry, watching the bloody strips cleanse the world of its horror, hanging on a tree, mighty and weak, he cried "My God, My God, Why has thou forsaken Me!" with his final breath, and spear stuck side, water and blood poured for us, rest in his bosom, rest in his arms, His yoke upon us, we carry his cross, up hills, down valleys, fording rivers, long days, long nights... weary travels.  Wandering around the bends of life, standing on mountain tops looking at dark valleys, shadows declare our souls theirs, but the light prevails
